Alva
In 1977, at the age of nineteen, Tony Alva shunned the major skate companies to form his own skateboard company, Alva Skateboads. Alva Skateboards was the first company ever run and owned by a skateboarder and one of the first brands to use layered Canadian maple plywood for the skateboard decks. Alva Skateboards was aslo a pioneer of the rip grip product, a material that could stick onto the underside of a skateboarder's deck making it easier to not lose grip on an aerial trick. Tony Alva, one of the original Z-Boys, is considered to be one of the most influential skateboarders ever. That vision was to give action sports enthusiasts one lid that was adaptable to all seasons and all non-motorized action sports. In September of 2005 Bern Helmets was launched at the Action Sport Retailer show and was later introduced to the world at the Snowboard Cross in Torino, Italy in 2006.

Bones Bearings
Bones Skateboard Bearings set the standard by which all other bearings are measured. In 1991 George A. Powell, after having left Powell Peralta, began Bones Bearings. Early on Powell saw the need for fast bearings and began searching for the fastest bearings at an affordable price. Powell went to Switzerland, where bearings were being made to roll faster then he had ever seen. He worked with Swiss manufacturers to optimize the bearing. He switched from standard stamped metal ball retainers to the high speed precision molded plastic that were easily removable with one shield off, adjusted tolerances and clearances, combined side and vertical loads, and replaced the typical lubricant with his own Bones Skateboard Bearings Speed Cream to create the Bones Skateboard Bearings that we know now. In 2008 Bones Skateboard Bearings proudly celebrated 25 years of business. Powell also owns Bones Wheels. Currently Skate One, a company that's been around since 1976, distributes Bones Bearings.
Bones Wheels
In 1974 George A. Powell started a skateboard manufacturing business in Santa Barbara, California, which included Bones Skateboard Wheels. George Powell had studied engineering at Stanford University, so it didn't take much for him to realize urethane was the answer to making skateboard wheels better. Eventually laid off from his job in the aerospace industry, Powell started to make his own wheels, baking them and buying urethane. The name Bones Skateboard Wheels came to him because of the white color of the wheels he was making. And from 1977 till today, Bones Skateboard Wheels roll. As early as 1977 Ray Rodriguez rode for Bones Wheels. Powell worked with Powell Peralta Skateboards from 1978 to 1991, and continues today to make skateboard products such as Bones Bearings and Bones Wheels. Distributed by Skate One.

Converse Skateboarding
Back in 1908, Marquis Mills Converse founded Converse Shoes. Converse moved into the skate market in 1974 with the One Star shoe. By 1992 Converse was a super star, celebrating their 75th anniversary and having sold 500 million pairs worldwide. In 2003 Converse and Nike made a deal, and Nike purchased Converse Skate Shoes, making it a wholly owned subsidiary.

Creature
In the early 90's Russ Pope began Creature Skateboards. Today Darren Navarrette runs Creature Skateboards out of NHS Distribution, resurrecting it in 2008 after it had gone under in the 90s. Creature Skateboards was created with the backing of NHS when some riders for SMA were interested in starting something new and got on board with Pope and Creature. During the early years of Creature guys like Barker Barrett, Jason Adams, Dorian Tucker, Darren Navarette, Ronnie Marshall, Novak, and Crazy Eddy rode. Many years ago Navarette snuck into a tradeshow for three days in California, where met Russ Pope, was invited to ride for Creature and SMA, and did. When Creature folded Navarette went off to 151, only to eventually go back to revive Creature Skateboards where it was all about hesh law and survival. It worked. Still does.

Founded in 1997 by Chet Thomas, Darkstar is known for its consistent branding, powerful graphics, strong identifiable icon, value based product lines, industry leading guarantees, diverse team of contest killers, and the winner's podium.
Headed by 20 + year veteran Chet Thomas, the Darkstar team includes Ryan Decenzo, Adam Dyet, PLG, Tyson Bowerbank, Jon Hanlon, Greg Lutzka, Cameo Wilson, and Manolo Robles.

Flip
Flip Skateboards is a U.S. based international skateboard company created by Jeremy Fox, Ian Deacon and Geoff Rowley in 1994. Flip Skateboards was originally created in the early 1990s in England as a sister company to Death Box Skateboards and was also the successor to Bash Skateboards. Flip's very first skate team included Christian Heitmann, who was also their very first pro, Elton Whybrow, Chris Weinekker, Ivan Jenson and Luke McKirdy. Geoff Rowley was born in Liverpool, England, and began skateboarding at the age of 12. His first sponsor, in 1994 was Death Box Skateboards. Ian Deacon, born in England, moved to the US in 1994. He began his skateboarding career in 1980 in a town called Brighton. Brighton is known as Pig City, a slight on the infamous Dog Town in California. Many notable skaters came out of Brighton, including Mark Baker, Simon Levene, Steve Kellner, Don Brown and Justin Ashby. It was during 1989 that Deacon and Jermey Fox began Bash Skateboards, a division of Death Box, a company Fox had already created. Bash would eventually turn into Flip and in 1993 Death Box and Flip Skateboards merged. In 1994 the guys moved Flip Skateboards to the states. Flip has gone on to become one of the biggest and most well known skateboard companies worldwide. Over the years notable team members with Flip have included Bob Burnquist, Tom Penny, Rune Glifberg, Lance Mountain, Ali Boulala, Luan de Oliveira, David Gonzalez, Andrew Langi and Arto Saari.

Foundation
Foundation Skateboards was founded in 1989 by professional skateboarder Tod Swank. Long before his days with Foundation Skateboards, Swank grew up skating at the Del Mar Skate Ranch during the late 1970s. He was first sponsored by Gullwing Trucks and Sims Skateboards and ended up working with TWS as a staff photographer and writer. Swank finished with TWS in 1989 while he was riding for Canada's Skull Skates. Swank worked with Steve Rocco at World Industries for two years building up and trying to establish Foundation Skateboards, which was rough but worked. Today, Todd Swank is the founder of TumYeto, which he started in 1989, the company accredited with creating the motto, "By Skateboarders, For Skateboarders". He is still the owner, photographer and publisher at Foundation Skateboards. Swank was the first Senior Photographer at Transworld Skateboarding Magazine. His zine, Swank Zine, was also one of the first zines created to spawn the wave of underground Xeroxed press that kept communication in underground skateboarding alive in the 80s.

"All throughout the pandemic, when the world stopped, and things were locked down, I started messing with my trucks. I decided to start working on designs, and the sampling process began shortly after. I went through so many different versions of the hangers and baseplates, experimenting with different bushings, bushing heights, hardnesses, turning radius, kingpins, polishes, and the list goes on for over two years. I finally got the truck to where I really like it. The main thing I wanted in a truck was to have the best grind clearance I could get without messing up the turn I wanted. I also wanted the truck to be strong, light, and have a classic look and feel. At the end of all this, it is just me in my garage trying to create something new with Slappy trucks." -Mike Sinclair

Toy Machine bloodsucking skateboard company was started in 1993 by pro skater Ed Templeton. When Ed was deciding what to name the company, he was between 'Toy Skateboards' and 'Machine Skateboards'. Team rider at the time Ethan Fowler suggested combining the two names and that's how 'Toy Machine' was born. Legendary pro skaters like Brian Anderson, Jamie Thomas, and Elissa Steamer helped shape the early days of Toy Machine and can be seen in classic videos like 'Welcome to Hell' and 'Jump Off a Building'. The present day Toy Machine team is equally as impressive with riders like Blake Carpenter, Daniel Lutheran, CJ Collins and Leo Romero leading the charge. One of the many things that make Toy Machine special is the original artwork done by Ed Templeton. Characters like the Toy Machine Monster, Turtle Boy, and the Transistor Sect have been reoccurring personalities seen on decks, tees, accessories, and more.
