Converse Skateboarding
Back in 1908, Marquis Mills Converse founded Converse Shoes. Converse moved into the skate market in 1974 with the One Star shoe. By 1992, Converse was a super star, celebrating their 75th anniversary and having sold 500 million pairs worldwide. Converse and Nike made a deal in 2003, and Nike purchased Converse Skate Shoes, making it a wholly owned subsidiary.
