Vulcanized Skate Shoes
Vulcanized skate shoe construction uses a rubber wrap, or foxing tape, that wraps around the outside edge of the shoe to connect the sole to the upper. The rubber wrap is treated with high heat to adhere to the shoe. The benefits of a vulcanized shoe is that it provides flexibility and board feel. The disadvantage is they provide less cushion. Classic Vans shoes feature vulcanized construction.
