G-Shock Watches was established in 1983. A brand of watches manufactured by Casio, G-Shock Watches are known for hard knocks and strong vibrations and are designed for sports, military and outdoor adventure oriented activity. The DW-5000C was their first design, created by Kikuo Ibe, an engineer, in 1983. In 1991 G-Shock released the Baby-G models and G-Shock's popularity grew quickly throughout the 90s. By 1998, 19 million watches had been sold worldwide. Over the years G-Shock has worked with numerous designers such as Dee and Ricky, musicians and other pop culture luminaries. Casio has worked with big brands in the past, includoing A Bathing Ape (Bape), Stussy, Xlarge, KIKS TYO, Nano Universe, Levi's, Lifted Research Group as well as Coca Cola, Lucky Strike and Marlboro. From paramedics and police officers, to astronauts, firemen and soldiers, G-Shock is durable enough for the toughest people. Popular with Special Forces groups in both American and other NATO nation units, G-Shock Watches were even mentioned in the Mark Bowden book Blackhawk Down, in regards to the DELTA Operators wearing G-Shock Watches during the combat events of October 3rd and October 4th.
